About Thomas Droge

Clinic Founder

Thomas Droge – Acupuncture and Herbs

I have been involved in Complementary Medicine since 1987. In 1991, I began my work in acupuncture at the “Aids Care Project” clinic in Boston MA. In addition to a degree in Massage Therapy from the Swedish Institute in New York, I continued my studies, receiving a Masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. I am nationally board certified in acupuncture and Herbal medicine. I studied herbal medicine at the Jiang Xi college of Chinese Medicine in China as well as participating in a traditional apprenticeship with a senior herbalist in New York. I have been a faculty member at the Pacific college and Touro College, where I taught classes in Chinese medicine and anatomy.

My understanding of Chinese Medicine and acupuncture has also been greatly influenced by my practice of the Taoist arts; Tai Chi Chuan and Xing Yi Chuan, both of which emphasize self-cultivation through the practice of meditation and movement. I have practiced Chinese medicine in a multitude of settings from small private practices to hospitals and large scale integrated wellness centers.

It was during my time as the Chinese Medicine Director at “Haelth”, an integrated center providing CAM therapies, that I realized how I wanted to practice the art of medicine. It became clear to me that the wisdom and insights of Chinese medical thought do not translate into western terms with the greatest of ease. I realized that developing an evidence based model of practice that generates empirical results would allow us to see the applications and the limits of Chinese Medicine with much greater accuracy.

I founded the Droge Clinic to bring together many different ideas of healthcare and create an environment where medicine could be a journey to health, not just a shield against disease. The results galvanized my mission to bring empirically responsible, complementary medicine to as many people as possible.

I work with Chinese medicine doctors, MDs, psychologists, massage therapists, movement specialists, and nutritionists to develop plans of treatment that increase recovery times, slow the progression of aggressive disease, manage chronic illness, and support the immune system against the side effects of strong pharmaceutical treatment. My Goal is to continue to develop clinically valuable methods of treatment, alleviate human suffering, and help people to reach their highest potential through conscious living.
